About Us
Function is a Miami-based collective of early stage technology investors.
Function co-invests with select venture capital firms in software-driven companies shaping the future of business and finance across the Western Hemisphere.
We seek to enable our members to invest directly into the venture capital asset class, while representing the Miami community within the capital stack of our portfolio companies and the asset class more broadly.
We are also building a community of practice amongst our members by fostering collaboration and connections via investing, content, and events.
Function is incorporated as a 501(c)6 non-profit and backed by the Knight Foundation.

MONICA BLACK
FOUNDER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR
Monica has been obsessed with learning and computing since she started programming in BASIC at age 7. Her career has been spent at the intersection of technology and finance, with 10+ years investing and operating in startups, venture capital, and private equity.
Prior to launching Function, Monica held investing roles at industry-leading organizations, including the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and Providence Equity Partners.
A Miami native, she received her Bachelor of Science from MIT and her MBA and Master of Education from Stanford University.
